Designed for the absolute beginner. NO DANCE, FLEXIBILITY, or FITNESS EXPERIENCE NEEDED!

This 4-week course focuses on students new to pole fitness and those mastering the basics of Pole Fitness technic and movement. A qualified (and certified) instructor will teach techniques for each move, including muscle engagement and conditioning needed. By the end of your 4-week course you will have built strength, stamina, flexibility, and more confidence than you could have ever imagined.

We HIGHLY recommend a student take this course TWICE or take additional weekly classes in conjunction to this course before moving to the next level. This truly depends of the individual, so talk with your instructor if you're unsure before moving forward to level 1.

Designed for the absolute beginner. This 4-Week Series is perfect for you if you have ever wanted to try Aerial HOOP, also known as a "Lyra". This 4-Week Series will take you baby steps off the ground and into the air. Everyone in class is starting at the same level and will progress as a group. A certified instructor will lead you through the 4-Week Series safely and securely. By the end of the series we are sure you will love being in the air.

Class meets once a week on the same day and time for 4-Weeks, 60 minute classes.

How to keep yourself safe and secure while in the air (and on the ground)

IMPORTANT STUDIO POLICIES

We do not offer refunds or transfers, please keep this in mind when making any purchase at this location.

NO FOOD or DRINKS are allowed in the studio PLEASE. Water, a protein bar or healthy snacks are 100% okay.

Class registration closes 2 hours prior to class start time. If you are not 100% sure if you can make it to class, we encourage you to register right before the 2 hour closing time. SOMETIMES we have the time to manually open the class 15 minutes prior to class start time but many times we don't, so please register prior to the 2 hour closing time.

You can not attend class without your text or email confirmation of that scheduled registered class.

If you early cancel your scheduled class, your class credit will go back to your Membership or class package. All other students; class credit will go on a studio gift card to your student account. All studio policies apply, please review them on the website www.vpolestudio.com

No show and late cancel students will lose their class. You MUST cancel your registration a minimum of 24 hours prior to class start time to prevent losing your class credit.

All Students will be charged $5 each time they late cancel. Unlimited members will lose 3 days from their monthly pass in addition to their late cancel fee. All students will be charged a $25 no cancel/no show if they fail to attend a scheduled class.

These fees can be avoided by following our simple studio policies.

Late Cancel Fee is $5 and No Show Fee is $25.

Lyra (Aerial Hoop) | All Levels

A "Lyra All Levels Class" is an aerial hoop (also called "Lyra") class designed for students of all experience levels, from complete beginners to advanced aerialists, where the instructor will adapt exercises and skills to each individual's ability, focusing on building foundational techniques while also offering progressions for more experienced students to develop their skills further within the same class session; allowing everyone to learn new moves and improve their strength and flexibility on the aerial hoop, regardless of their current skill level.

Key points about a Lyra All Levels Class:

  • Suitable for everyone: Whether you're new to aerial arts or have prior experience, this class welcomes all levels to participate.
  • Focus on basics: Beginners will learn fundamental skills like basic hangs, simple transitions, and basic poses on the hoop.
  • Progressive challenges: More advanced students will be provided with variations and more complex moves to build upon their existing skills.
  • Individualized instruction: The instructor will tailor the class to each student's needs and abilities, providing modifications and progressions as necessary.
  • Strength and flexibility development: The class will focus on building upper body strength, core stability, and flexibility through various aerial poses and transitions.

What you might learn in a Lyra All Levels Class:

  • Basic mounts and dismounts from the hoop

THIS IS NOT A CLASS SETTING, NO INSTRUCTION WILL BE PROVIDED.

Please bring headphones if you plan on listening to music. There will be a stereo playing. 

Open Pole Practice is a scheduled, unstructured time to do your pole "homework." This is a great opportunity to work on choreography and movement you have been working on in class. Pole Only. No inversions or moves you aren't already proficient at.

Please respect the equipment and employ safe practice. Always use a crash mat.

Expect to strengthen your body, sharpen your technique, and explore the freedom of movement on spin pole.

What to Expect:

  • Skill Building: Advance from foundational spins and climbs into tricks such as leg hangs, butterfly variations, and inversion prep.
  • Combo Work: Learn to link tricks together, creating seamless, flowing sequences.
  • Strength & Flexibility: Develop core and upper-body power while improving flexibility for cleaner lines and safer execution.
  • Transitions: Master the art of moving smoothly between tricks for effortless flow.
  • Routine Development: Practice incorporating combos into short choreographies, adding style and creativity to your movement.

This class is taught exclusively on SPIN POLE. The focus is flowing movement and transitions seamlessly together, while learning a variety of grips and spin pole sequences. Learn how to control the pole while on spin mode and learn how to master a new apparatus. Class will start with a full body warm up and end with yummy stretches!

    Attend and assist 3 pole classes at any VPS location. Must be completed between Oct 27 – Nov 8, 2025.
  • 3 Hours | Written Class Plans
    Submit 3 class outlines based on the VPS format by Saturday, Nov 1st at 5 PM.
  • 4 Hours | Final Teach & Graduation Day – Sunday, November 9th
    Solo teach a live Level 1 class and support your fellow trainees by attending their live classes. Graduation follows the final class!

Graduates will receive a VPS Level 1 Instructor Certificate, qualifying you to teach at other studios or independently.

FPC: all levels | Bend Not Break: a Mobility-informed Backbend Workshop

Do backbends scare you? Let's break them down! We’ll start by regulating our nervous system, then we’ll do different mobility-informed drills to practice pieces separately before putting it all together with lots of options and entries. Attendees will leave with a greater understanding of what their body needs to work on to achieve this shape.

*You do not need to be inverting on the pole. Static Pole Only.
Love spreadies but not ready to take them to the air? Try them on the ground with the pole as your partner! Emphasis on active flexibility and techniques to make flexibility illusions.
Tricks include: floor jade, down splits, up splits, handstand/meatgrinder split, chopstix, and more!

FPC: intermediate | Use Your Butt: Low-Flow, Pole-Assisted Body Part Balances

*Should be safely inverting or willing to try!
Love working the base but running out of ideas? Learn Colleen’s favorite ground-based tricks using your butt, your forearm, knee pits, and other body parts to hold onto the pole while never going higher than standing.
Tricks include: floor steel panther, floor sneaky-V, violator, forearm stands, and more!

Explore the different grips and positioning for the various handsprings, and how to approach each variation. This is a purely handspring workshop, but we will also be looking at transitions into and out of each position.

Learn the secrets to Jamilla's signature moves. Strength and flexibility are obvious factors, but balance, focus and body awareness are equally as important in attaining spectacular, extended, seemingly effortless positions on the pole. Explore trademark moves such as the Russian Splits, the Deville (Jade Splits), the Serpentine and Shoulder Mount Splits (ever heard of the Flipped Out Jamilla?!), along with a variety of graceful transitions into and out of each one.

FPC: beginner HEEL TECH

This workshop is an introduction to the system of heelwork terminology and progressions through baseline elements, as developed by Rachele over the last 15 years. Beginning with barefoot techniques, this is a crash course in heel anatomy, alignment options, various engagements styles, box breaks, box rolls, stiletto carves, anchor points, simple weight distribution work, drags, slides, and sweeps. Perfect for those brand new to heels, wanting to transition to a different height, or wanting a deeper level and more heightened sense of control in the floor connections. 

*Any heel height is welcome. Straps are recommended.

Building off of Beginner Heel Tech, this workshop focuses on overall range expansion, as well as an introduction to full weight-bearing work in beginner elements, rotations, pirouettes, heel-digs, stiletto-digs, stiletto waves, heel-drives, weight transfers, and traces. 

*Wear a heel height you are already somewhat comfortable dancing in. Straps are required (boots are also allowed). Must be comfortable in a split-grip.

This is a general-level class; you don't need to be able to invert or even climb. Working lower to the ground doesn't mean boring though! We will be exploring different levels of movement, along with turns, grips, and spins. Jamilla will also teach specific conditioning and stretches required for pole progression. This workshop is a combination of specific skills along with some short choreography and flow.

Build Your Confidence

Take a break from herculean tricks and work on building your self-pole-esteem. Ditch your insecurities and learn how to feel a little more comfortable on any stage. We’ll experiment with tempo, eye contact, partner work, and a few other extroverted thaaangs. Students will have the option of closing the class with a solo freestyle to their favorite song!

Hauling your ass into the air is one of the most difficult and sought after skills to master.  This workshop introduces inverting to students who've never tried it, while helping seasoned veterans polish their skills. We'll start with a core-centric warm up, practice positioning for the floor, then fly those asses to the clouds.

This workshop teaches you how to harness your own power– the power in that ass, specifically – to create momentum for spins around a static pole. We will start with classic spins from your pole childhood (chair, dip turn & full brackets), then get a lil’ funkier (body spirals & Juliettes).

In this aerial hoop choreography workshop, you will learn how to combine basic moves on and off of the hoop in a sequence worthy of performing in front of an audience. Artistic elements, musicality, and flow techniques will be taught along with performance tips and tricks of the trade.

**Prerequisite: Must be able to invert cleanly and move inside the Lyra continuously for a minimum of 1 minute.

Bang! Smack! Clickity Clack!! Learn all the ways to bring more attention to your movements with some bangin’ floor and pole work in this workshop. Platform heels (without rhinestones or delicate parts) are required for this leg heavy workshop while you clack, smack, and bang your way across the floor and up and down the pole.

**Please wear pole dancing platform stilettos with a heel height of 6 1/2" minimum.
