Lyra (Aerial Hoop) | All Levels

A "Lyra All Levels Class" is an aerial hoop (also called "Lyra") class designed for students of all experience levels, from complete beginners to advanced aerialists, where the instructor will adapt exercises and skills to each individual's ability, focusing on building foundational techniques while also offering progressions for more experienced students to develop their skills further within the same class session; allowing everyone to learn new moves and improve their strength and flexibility on the aerial hoop, regardless of their current skill level.

Key points about a Lyra All Levels Class:

  • Suitable for everyone: Whether you're new to aerial arts or have prior experience, this class welcomes all levels to participate.
  • Focus on basics: Beginners will learn fundamental skills like basic hangs, simple transitions, and basic poses on the hoop.
  • Progressive challenges: More advanced students will be provided with variations and more complex moves to build upon their existing skills.
  • Individualized instruction: The instructor will tailor the class to each student's needs and abilities, providing modifications and progressions as necessary.
  • Strength and flexibility development: The class will focus on building upper body strength, core stability, and flexibility through various aerial poses and transitions.
  • Fun and supportive environment: The class aims to create a positive and encouraging atmosphere where students can learn and progress at their own pace.

What you might learn in a Lyra All Levels Class:

  • Basic mounts and dismounts from the hoop
  • Hanging positions like the "bird" or "candle stick"
  • Simple spins and rotations on the hoop
  • Transitions between different positions on the hoop
  • Body awareness and control while suspended in the air
  • How to use proper body alignment and technique

Classes are 1 hour. You will need to wear leggings, a form-fitting shirt that covers your arm pits and bring water. Be sure to leave all your jewelry at home and don't wear any lotions.

WHAT TO BRING: Water

WHAT TO WEAR: We encourage students to wear clothing that covers the backs of their knees and torso for all aerial classes, other than pole. This will help avoiding burns caused by friction with the fabric or hoop.
