This workshop focuses on understanding how heels work—on your body and with the pole—so you can move more safely, efficiently, and expressively. Rather than choreography, we break heels dancing down into skills, mechanics, and embodied practice that dancers can return to again and again.

Topics covered across the series include:

· Shoe fit and choosing the right heels for your body and goals

· Anatomy of a heel

· Safety considerations and injury prevention

· Foot and ankle conditioning for heels work

· Walking with control and confidence

· Pointing, flexing, and articulation in heels

· Balance and weight transfer

· Turning mechanics

· Using the box and the stiletto intentionally

· Clacks: sound, timing, and control

This class is ideal for dancers who want to feel more stable and grounded in heels, understand why movements work, build confidence without rushing into choreography, and develop longevity and safety in their heels practice.

Because this workshop is repeatable, dancers are encouraged to return as their strength, awareness, and relationship with heels evolves.

Requirements & What to Bring

· All levels welcome. This workshop is adaptable for a wide range of experience levels. Participants should have completed at least 3–4 intro-level pole classes.

· Pleaser-style pole heels required, DO NOT BRING STREET-WEAR HEELS (clear understanding of heel anatomy will be taught and we will learn why there are BIG differences between your street heels and pole dance shoes). Sandal or Boot style heels are appropriate for this workshop – and for fun bring them all if you have them

· Wear pole-appropriate clothing that allows for skin contact based on your level (sports bra and shorts recommended).

· Knee pads encouraged, especially for conditioning and floor-based exploration.

· Socks optional for warm-ups or conditioning.

· Bring curiosity and patience; this is a skills- and education-focused workshop, not choreography-based

Build a strong foundation for heels work by exploring shoe fit, heel anatomy, and safety principles. Develop foot, ankle, and leg conditioning while learning essential walking, balance, and basic technique. This class emphasizes controlled, intentional movement to create a safe, confident base for all heels dancing.
